Travel

The easiest way to get to the MBL is to fly into Boston and then take the Peter Pan bus to Woods Hole. The bus travels between Logan Airport (or South Station for those who are not flying) and Woods Hole (the last stop on that line) and takes approximately 2 hours.  They also travel from Providence to Woods Hole, though it requires an easy change in Bourne. Please note that the schedule changes in the spring, so there may be an additional bus by May, but most likely not.  The last bus is therefore likely to leave Logan at 7:30 pm.  You can go to http://www.peterpanbus.com/tickets/fares.php to see fares and schedules. The travel directions to Woods Hole from various airports, etc. are located at: http://www.mbl.edu/about/visit/directions/index.html

Please send Jessica Ranney your e-ticket or travel plans as soon as you purchase your ticket or know your plans.  It is helpful to have everyone's travel times, and if we are funding your trip it is helpful to gauge expenses.  If you will be driving, please let Jessica know as well.

Dress for the duration of the course is casual. Woods Hole weather can be mercurial, so layers are good. Other things you'll want to bring: alarm clock, comfortable walking shoes and a great attitude. Woods Hole is a village and everything is within walking distance that is related to the course including the ferry to Martha's Vineyard!

MBL Housing

We will be staying in dorms at the MBL.  There are a very few single rooms available for those who need them, for medical or other health reasons.   For those who will be paying for their own accommodations the MBL Housing Rates can be found at http://www.mbl.edu/housing/rates.html .  All reservation for MBL Housing must go through Jessica Ranney.  Even if the workshop is not funding your trip, we have to reserve your room in order to be a part of this workshop and receive the security cards.

Please note that it is very important for you to keep us updated if anything changes, since the MBL bills for housing as of May 1st, and we won't get a refund.  For those of you paying your own way, please pay attention to the cancellation date, which is earlier than for most hotels.

There are phones in the dorm rooms at the Swope Center and Ebert Hall but most people bring a cell/mobile phone or credit card (phone service is for local dial only). The dorms all have wireless and ethernet connections. There are also computers and printers available in the library 24/7 as well as the classroom.

Meals

A meal ticket is included with MBL Housing during our workshop.  This will begin with breakfast on May 23rd and end after lunch on the 26th. For those staying locally and off-campus, please rsvp a meal card with Jessica as well.
